Lions have a roaring good time

FRESNO -- The Vanguard University women’s basketball team enjoyed another one-sided victory at the Fresno Pacific Holiday Classic, routing William Jessup, 87-27, on Saturday.
Jessica Richter was 15 of 24 from the field and finished with 36 points, nine rebounds and six steals for Vanguard, ranked No. 1 in NAIA Division I. Kelly Schmidt added 17 points and six rebounds, and Lindsey Rinke chipped in with 14 points and three steals.
The Lions (3-0) outscored William Jessup, 46-12, in the paint and scored 42 points off turnovers. William Jessup (1-5) committed 37 turnovers in the contest.
Tiari Goold dished out 15 assists for Vanguard, which led, 41-12, at halftime.
The Lions’ next game will be their Golden State Athletic Conference opener on Tuesday at San Diego Christian.
