NEWPORT BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION PREVIEW
- Share via
Here are some items the commission will consider tonight.
NEWPORT CENTER OFFICES
The Irvine Co. already has entitlements to build about 45,000 more square feet of commercial space at Fashion Island. Officials want to shift those allowances to Corporate Plaza West on Newport Center Drive to add a two-story office building.
The new building would be at East Coast Highway and Club House Drive. To make the shift, community development plans for Fashion Island and Corporate Plaza West need to be changed.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Staff members recommend the change, which would have to be approved by the City Council.
DRUG REHAB CENTER
The proprietors of Sober Living by the Sea, a group of 20 drug and alcohol rehab homes around the city, are asking for a permit to continue activities at 2811 Villa Way, which houses counseling services, a computer lab and some offices. Some residents and business owners in the community plan to oppose the permit, but the center’s operators have requested the item be postponed to a later meeting.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The commission is likely to postpone discussion of the drug and alcohol center’s permit until January.
