Damage extensive in apartment fire
Sunday morning blaze in Costa Mesa results in $50,000 loss and death of pet cat.A fire Sunday morning in the 200 block of Ogle Street in Costa Mesa caused about $50,000 worth of damage and likely caused the death of a pet cat, said officials with the Costa Mesa Fire Department.
A total of 20 firefighters responded to the blaze, which was reported at approximately 8:30 a.m. The first fire crew responded within five minutes and started to put out the fire. Most of the damage was isolated to the first floor of the two-story apartment unit.
Three occupants had evacuated. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries.
