CDM football forfeit possibleCIF Southern Section expected to rule on eligibility of Sea King who played in Pacific Coast League victory.A ruling on whether the Corona del Mar High football team used an ineligible player in its 40-0 Pacific Coast League victory over Calvary Chapel on Sept. 30 is expected to be announced this week.
CdM Boys Athletic Director Jerry Jelnick said Sunday the school has been investigating one player’s residential eligibility.
The issue was brought to CdM’s attention early last week by CIF Southern Section officials, Jelnick and CdM football coach Dick Freeman said.
Freeman said the school is in the process of appealing to the Southern Section, which is expected to render a decision on the matter as soon as today.
If the player was ineligible, CdM (3-4, 1-2 in league) would become 2-5, 0-3. The player has not played in any other CdM games this season, Freeman said.
