Man stabs co-worker
An employee at a Ruby’s Diner in Costa Mesa stabbed his co-worker after a verbal altercation Saturday, police said. According to police, the two began fighting inside the restaurant at South Coast Plaza at about 5:30 p.m. The fight escalated outside the eatery. A man was stabbed once, FitzPatrick said.
The man who stabbed his co-worker then ran into a nearby parking structure and was chased by the victim. When the victim stopped, co-workers noticed him and provided aid until paramedics arrived.
The victim was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. He was in stable condition Saturday night, FitzPatrick said.
As of late Saturday, the man who ran had not been found. The victim is a 22-year-old man from Costa Mesa. The suspect is a 19-year-old man from Costa Mesa.
Police are likely to charge the victim with assault with a deadly weapon.
