Two men believed to be residents of Newport Beach are among Orange

County’s 10 most wanted criminals, officials said Thursday.

Descriptions and information about the two suspects, along with

the others, are available on the new Orange County district

attorney’s website, which launched Thursday.

“If you are a fugitive, you need to know that you can’t hide

forever,†Dist. Atty. Tony Rackauckas said in a prepared statement.

Officials are hopeful that the exposure will result in the arrest

of the named individuals, Rackauckas said.

Samuel Anthony Rowland, 27, fled police after facing charges that

could have led to a third-strike conviction, police said. Rowland,

who is wanted on charges of possession of drugs and an illegal

weapon, appeared in court but allegedly fled once he discovered he

was facing a third strike and $1 million bail. Rowland is believed to

be living on Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach.

Tim James Maywood, 43, also known as Tim Marino, is wanted on

suspicion of raping an unconscious woman and videotaping the

incident. Marino’s co-defendant was convicted and sent to state

prison, said Newport Police Sgt. Bill Hartford. An arrest warrant was

issued for Marino, but he fled the area before police could take him

into custody, police said. Marino had set up an appointment with the

Newport Beach Police, but never showed, Hartford said. Marino may be

living in Acapulco, but his last known address was in Newport Beach,

according the district attorney’s office.

Newport Police are searching for Rowland, and they think Marino is

in Mexico; Mexican authorities have been given his information,

Hartford said.

“We are aware and we are still actively looking for both of them,â€

Hartford said.

The people on the most wanted list were nominated by prosecutors

and investigators. However, those named aren’t necessarily the worst

of the worst, said district attorney spokesman Mark Macaulay. The

district attorney’s office is just trying to bring these names to the

public’s attention.
