A number of local groups and individuals are responding to the
Hurricane Katrina disaster:
* Veterans for Peace is sponsoring a free concert, “Rise Up! Reach
Out!” from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday to celebrate World Peace Day
and collect supplies and funds for hurricane victims.
The concert will take place at Neighborhood Congregational Church,
340 St. Ann’s Dr.
Singer/songwriter Ed Munter and others will offer songs of
inspiration and visions of peace.

The Laguna Beach chapter will send all money collected that day to
affected chapters in the South and Southwest to support their
Operation School Bell programs. Operation School Bell is a signature
program of Assistance League, providing school clothing for more than
160,000 children last year.

for a shelter in Baton Rouge, La., where the population has more than
doubled due to hurricane evacuees.

Sept. 23, and items may be dropped off at her home, 1902 Ocean Way,
