9/10 all-stars fall to Newport

The postseason run for the Laguna Beach Little League 9/10 All-Star
team came to an end Tuesday at La Paz Park.
Laguna Beach was eliminated from title contention at the District
55 All-Star Tournament by Newport Beach-American, which scored a 14-1
victory.
Laguna Beach suffered consecutive losses after opening up the
double-elimination tournament with an impressive victory.
Laguna Beach began the tournament with a resounding 10-1 victory
over South Irvine-American. The squad advanced to Winners Bracket
play, where it lost a tough one to Lake Forest-American, 6-4.
Lake Forest-American went unbeaten during the first week of the
double-elimination tournament, having opened the tournament with a
6-4 win over Aliso Viejo, followed by a 12-4 triumph over Laguna
Hills that set up a showdown with Laguna Beach.
The Laguna Beach 9/10 All-Stars for 2005 are Weston Barnes,
Garrett Burk, Andrew Castro, Nick Channels, Robert Clemons, Grifan
Fair, Blake Hester, Cameron Hauer, Kyle Jaffe, Cole Kessler, Sundance
Severino, Larry Stewart, Birch Weber, Remington Zona.
11-year-old All-Star Tournament
At Bonita Canyon Park, Laguna Beach suffered a 21-3 loss Saturday
to Aliso Viejo in the opener for both teams.
Newport Beach Little League is host to the 11-year-old All-Star
tournament.
The loss dropped Laguna Beach into a “Second Chance” bracket game
against the loser of Wednesday’s game between Laguna Niguel and
Newport Beach-National.
Laguna Beach will meet that opponent in a 2:30 p.m. elimination
game Saturday.
The Laguna Beach 11-year-old All-Stars for 2005 are Travis
Clawson, John Gavin, Zachary Jaffe, Austin Hillemann, Kirk Knott,
James Lavery, Robbie McInerny, Brogan O’Bryan, Santi Pierini, Jack
Pillsbury, Norty Penney, Derek Reigel, Evan Rubel and Ryan
Takabayashi.
