CdM’s Tolfa captures honor

Corona del Mar High sophomore Michelle Tolfa was named the Pacific
Coast League Most Valuable Pitcher by the circuit’s coaches.
Sophomore Holly Van Hiel joins Tolfa as a first-team all-league
selection while junior Michelle Allred and sophomore Allie
Duernberger were selected to the all-league second team.
Tolfa led the league with 197 strikeouts in 155 innings and was
third in the league with a 1.08 ERA.
She led the Sea Kings with a .467 batting average, 18 RBIs and six
home runs. She tied for the most home runs in the Pacific Coast
League, while her batting average was second.
Tolfa helped lead CdM to a third-place finish in league to qualify
for the postseason.
Van Heil was second on the team with 13 RBIs and two home runs,
and her .297 batting average was third among Sea King batters.
Allred was tied for tops on the team with six stolen bases, and
was third with 20 hits. The outfielder’s 11 runs scored were the
third-most for a CdM player.
Duernberger tied with Allred with six stolen bases, while her .214
batting average ranked fifth among Sea Kings with at least 50
at-bats. The shortstop was second on the team with 12 runs scored and
tied for third with six RBIs.
Tesoro’s Nicole Aasonson was named league MVP.
