Sawdust grand opening July 1
Laguna Beach Mayor Elizabeth Pearson-Schneider will cut the red
ribbon and officially open the 2005 Sawdust Art Festival at 10 a.m.
Friday.
Laguna Beach residents are invited to come to opening day for free
as part of the Sawdust’s new First Fridays Free program for Laguna
Beach locals.
Laguna Beach residents with ID will be admitted for free all day,
from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., on the first Friday of each month the
Sawdust is open -- July 1, Aug. 5 and Sept. 2. The 2005 Sawdust Art
Festival features 210 Laguna Beach artists.
On Monday, Independence Day, the Laguna Community Concert Band
will play a variety of patriotic music, show tunes and big band with
vocals from noon to 2 p.m.
The festival is located at 935 Laguna Canyon Road. Adult admission
is $7, with discounts for seniors and youths.

Art Walk this week
The First Thursdays Art Walk takes place Thursday from 6 to 9
p.m., with numerous galleries throughout Laguna Beach opening their
doors. First Thursdays Art Walk is a nonprofit organization of Laguna
Beach Museum and fine art galleries offering an evening of art,
refreshments, music. This event is free to the public on the first
Thursday of every month.
Free shuttle service commences from the Laguna Art Museum at 6:15
and runs until 9 p.m.

Pageant of Masters show is set to open
The Pageant of the Masters will open to the public on Thursday.
The tableux-style performance depicts various paintings using live
actors and lavish stage sets.
The title of this year’s show is “On the Road -- A Crash Course in
Art & Popular Culture.”
The Pageant takes place on the grounds of the Festival of Arts,
650 Laguna Canyon Road.
Ticket prices range from $15 to $80. For tickets, call (800)

Museum plans
docent class
Laguna Art Museum is looking for new members for its Docent Corps,
an essential group of individuals who conduct informative tours and
educational outreach about the museum’s exhibitions for adults,
children, and a variety of schools and organizations.
An informational tea will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 11,
and weekly provisional training will begin in October.
