Have a fun, safe Fourth
“Safe and sane” is the way to go this Fourth of July.
Sure, the weather’s heating up, and the ocean is blue, and it’s
time to party “hearty” with barbecuing and all the fixings.
It’s the nation’s 229th birthday party, and everyone wants to
celebrate.
People are in a party mood, with all the art festivals opening and
excitement bubbling over in Laguna.
With what the city’s gone through last month -- it’s the one-month
anniversary of the Bluebird Canyon landslide -- Lagunans certainly
deserve to have some fun.
Excitement was bubbling over Tuesday at the Sawdust Art Festival
“private” party -- to which the entire town and then some seemed to
have been invited, presaging summer crowds.
But sometimes happy times can be too much of a good thing.
That very evening, in fact, apparently someone had a bit too much
fun and ran his or her vehicle into a telephone pole -- fortunately
without causing serious injury, but closing down Laguna Canyon Road
for 10 hours.
It’s a reminder that we need to take care, and stay safe, while
enjoying the good times.
Happy Birthday, Uncle Sam!
