Holmes is league MVP

Estancia High senior setter Trevor Holmes has been named the Golden
West League Most Valuable Player after leading the Eagles to the
their second consecutive undefeated league title.
Joining Holmes as first-team all-league selections are Dallas
Kopp, Scott Markley, Shaun Markley and Alex LeGrand from Estancia as
well as Ryan Bagwell, Garrett Walthers and Mitch Caldwell from Costa
Mesa.
Mesa’s Andrew Melcer and Will Lefebvre, as well as Estancia’s Ryan
Watson and Tom Fryslie, were second-team selections.
Ian Lamb and Leonard Juska from Estancia as well as Trevor Smith
and Tony Krikorkian from Costa Mesa received honorable mention.
Holmes finished with 685 assists with only 15 ball handling errors. The two-time first-team all-league performer also registered
127 kills, 78 service errors, 163 digs and 30 solo blocks.
The Eagles (22-10) reached the CIF Southern Section Division III
semifinals before bowing out to Orange Lutheran.
Costa Mesa finished the season 12-5 and reached the Division III
playoffs. The Mustangs fell to Santa Monica in the first round.
Holmes is the second-straight league MVP from Estancia.
Josh Kornegay and teammate Kris Hartwell each earned co-MVP honors
as the Eagles claimed the Division III championship last year.
