ONE-ACT PLAY FESTIVAL

Twelve one-act plays, many of them original, will be performed

during Orange Coast College’s annual spring one-act play festival,

which will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and at 2 p.m.

and 7 p.m. Sunday, in the college’s Drama Lab Studio, 2701 Fairview

“SEUSSICAL: THE MUSICAL”

Characters from the beloved stories of Dr. Seuss bounce from page

to stage in this colorful and imaginative new musical, cleverly

sprinkled with bits of gentle wisdom for audiences of all ages. Tony

Award-winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty wrote this play with

musical styles that range from Latin to pop to swing. The production

is being staged at 7 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on the 22nd, by the Estancia

Drama Department at the Barbara Van Holt Theatre at Estancia High

School, 2323 Placentia Ave., Costa Mesa. Tickets will be available on

campus for $8 pre-sale starting May 2nd and $10 at the door. Children

MICHEL CAMILO TRIO

The Dominican-born pianist and composer is bringing his trio to

Founders Hall, closing out the center’s 2004-05 Jazz Series. Camilo’s

music ranges from moody jazz to classical concertos. Shows begin at

7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. at the Orange County Performing Arts Center,

‘BREATH OF SPRING’

Ah, the British have a way with farces! When a maid with a shady

past is suspected of stealing a mink sole, a former Army major and

several other lodgers of a boarding house endeavor to return the fur

without being caught. They take such delight in the secretive scheme

that they form a syndicate for stealing and returning furs, all for

the excitement of the adventure. Written by Peter Coke and directed

by Terri Miller Schmidt, the play will be performed at 8 p.m.

Thursday through Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Newport
