Eagles’ Kopp breaks pair of records

Estancia High freshman Shea Kopp was named Female Swimmer of the Meet

after setting meet records in the 50-yard freestyle (25.17 seconds)

and 50 backstroke (28.70) at the Estancia Frosh/Soph invitational

April 23 at Estancia High.

The Newport Harbor High boys finished sixth and the girls finished

ninth, while the Estancia girls finished seventh and the Estancia

boys finished 10th.

Sydney Barloon gave the Eagles a 1-2 finish in the 500 free with

her 26.92 clocking. Barloon also finished sixth in the 50 butterfly

(30.47).

Estancia’s Megan Kunert was third in the 200 free (2:07.68) as

well as in the 50 butterfly (30.30).

Newport’s Kimmi Morrison (6:25.00) and Kristine Wood (6:25.32)

were sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 500 free.

Newport Harbor’s Kyle McGhie was fourth in the boys 50 free

(24.62) while teammate Nick Yeager was fifth (25.19).

Newport’s Steven Taylor was fifth in the 100 fly with a time of

1:04.35.
