A Basic and Advanced Coastal Navigation course will be held by the
United States Coast Guard at 6 p.m. Thursdays at BoatsUS, 16390
Pacific Coast Highway. The basic class costs $65 and will consist of
seven two-hour sessions, ending May 12. The advanced class costs $85
and will consist of 12 two-hour sessions, ending June 16.

FRIDAY
God at the Movies -- a movie screening and small-group discussion
-- will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Fridays through June 3 at Christ

SATURDAY
The Shipley Nature Center Tour will offer visitors a chance to
hear descriptions of the center’s planned restoration of native plant
habitat with the addition of water conservation gardens. The event
will begin at 10 a.m. Guests will meet at the front gate to the
Shipley Nature Center in Huntington Central Park. Parking will be
available in the Central Park Drive parking lot off Edwards Street

Save Our Strays of Huntington Beach will host a bake sale and
raffle from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at PETsMART, 7600 Edinger Ave. The
event provides an opportunity for everyone to meet the volunteers and
see the new adoption center. There will be lots of yummy cakes, pies,
cookies and more PLUS raffle tickets will also be available. You
could win one of several great prizes: including a Pet Basket or Gift
Certificate to one of several local restaurants such as California
Pizza Kitchen. EggRoll King, Coco’s, Artist Seafood, etc! All prizes
have been graciously donated for this event.

SUNDAY
The Sunday Arlington West Project will set up 600 crosses every
Sunday, as a memorial to American servicemen and women who have died
in Iraq and all casualties of the war in Iraq. It will take place at
8 a.m., a half a block north of the Huntington Beach Pier, Pacific
Coast Highway at Main Street. Volunteers are needed to set up the
crosses at 8 a.m. and take them down at 4 p.m. Information: (949)

***The Bolsa Chica Land Trust will hold a free, 2-hour walking
tour of the Bolsa Chica Mesa and Wetlands at 10 a.m. at the
Ecological Reserve parking lot on Pacific Coast Highway. Participants
should wear comfortable shoes and bring sun protection and

TUESDAY
The Kiwanis Club of Huntington Beach Surf City Breakfast Club will
meet at 7:30 a.m. at the International House of Pancakes, 18782 Beach

The MISS Foundation is a support group for families who have
experienced the death of a child that meets on the first Thursday of
