Fundraiser a success

Kerry Rubel

On Friday, March 11, students at Top of the World School participated

in their annual jog-a-thon. It was a festive morning as students ran,

walked or jogged around our soccer field in their new TOW jog-a-thon

T-shirts designed by fifth-grader Lucy Koch.

The jog-a-thon committee, headed by Bettina Rey, did an awesome

job organizing the fun-filled event. Proceeds from the jog-a-thon

support TOW PTA programs such as Local Color, Class Act, after-school

programs and technology support.

Thank you to all of the parent volunteers and community partners

who helped to make the jog-a-thon a success!

March is also a special time at TOW as we celebrate creative arts

with our Local Color lunchtime art projects and our Class Act Family

Night. Students have the opportunity to explore their artistic flair

as local artists and creative parents set up stations including

watercolor still art, photography, spin art, wand making (magic

provided by the child’s imagination) and other fun projects.

A special thank you to Cari Abbate and Marlene Baker for

organizing this wonderful opportunity for our students.

Class Act, which is an outreach project of the Pacific Symphony

Orchestra, will have its Family Night on Thursday, March 24 at 7 p.m.

in the multipurpose room. The featured composer this year is

Beethoven, and our musician is Russell Dicey, who plays the French

horn. Families are encouraged to come enjoy the music presented by

Dicey and some of his colleagues from the Pacific Symphony Orchestra.
