The Job Center is a needed service

The Daily Pilot asked people at Home Depot on Harbor Boulevard, “How
do you feel about the Job Center closing?”
I don’t know where the workers are going to go for work if they
don’t have that. I’d like to know why they’re closing it and what
their justification is.

I think it’s a bad idea because we often use them for day
labor.... It’s going to make it bad for places like Home Depot.
DEREK PHILLIPS, 39
Costa Mesa
It’s a good place to go and find work; it benefits everyone -- the
guy that needs work and the people who need workers. There needs to
be a central area for those guys to go find work.
TROY USLETON, 28

It’s going to end up sending people from over there to Home Depots
like this.... It’s a source of jobs for a lot of people. If they do
close it, all these people are going to end up jobless.
ISAIAS QUINTANA, 31
Corona
That’s bad because whether they are illegal or not, people need
work. Homeowners and construction companies sometimes need extra
help, and they can get good work there.
