Authority puts traffic congestion on agenda
The Orange County Transportation Authority will unveil options to
solve traffic congestion at an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight in
the Victoria room at the Costa Mesa Neighborhood Community Center,
1845 Park Ave.
Transportation officials will present several alternatives
explored in a study of the central Orange County traffic corridor,
such as extending the Orange Freeway to Huntington Beach or Coast
Highway, adding lanes to the Costa Mesa Freeway and improving street
intersections and freeway interchanges.
The transportation authority is seeking public input on the
alternatives. In addition to tonight’s open house, two more will be
held next week in Fountain Valley and Orange, and comments are being
accepted in an online survey at https://www.octa.net/centralcounty.

Library friends look toward the future
Friends of the Costa Mesa Libraries are holding a meeting tonight
to discuss the future of a potential new public facility.
The program, entitled “Envisioning a New Library,” is scheduled
for 7:30 p.m. in the Fairview Room of the Neighborhood Community
Center, 1845 Park Ave., in Costa Mesa.
Dan Worthington and Mary Ellen Goddard of the Friends of the Costa
Mesa Libraries organization plan to discuss what services an updated
library could provide the community.
Goddard, the group’s president, said she plans to tell attendees
what other local libraries offer their residents. She said she also
wants to hear input from Costa Mesa residents on their visions for a
new facility.
The meeting is open to the public. Call (714) 556-4396 or (714)
751-7472 for more information.
