‘Eaters look to start new streak
The UC Irvine men’s basketball team will bid to begin a new winning
streak tonight, when it meets Big West Conference rival Cal State
Northridge at 7:05 at the Bren Events Center.
UCI (6-3, 1-1 in conference) had its five-game winning streak
snapped with a 62-45 setback Dec. 30 at UC Santa Barbara.
The Matadors (4-7, 2-1) defeated UCSB, 70-50, Sunday at home.
UCI is led by junior guards Ross Schraeder (15.6 points per game,
including 30 of 63 from three-point range) and Aaron Fitzgerald (13.7
points and 5.3 assists per game), as well as senior center Greg
Ethington (13.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per contest).
Northridge is paced by senior Ian Boylan (13.2 ppg).

UCI is inviting all area youth to attend its game at 7 p.m. on
Saturday against University of the Pacific at the Bren Center.
Youngsters will have an opportunity to experience the college
game-day atmosphere when UCI hosts NCAA basketball’s 10th anniversary Take A Kid to the Game day celebration. Fans ages 17 and younger will
receive a free ticket with the purchase of a full-priced adult
ticket, to watch the Anteaters take on the Tigers.
UCI is one of more than 500 institutions across the nation that
have come to participate in this campaign that focuses on attracting
more of the nation’s youth to college games. The Take A Kid to the
Game program is celebrating its 10th year in the promotion of NCAA
athletics.
Tickets for this special 10th anniversary game can be purchased at
the Bren Events Center ticket office on the night of the game. For
