Shadow
Shadow is lucky to be alive. Her caregiver said she had noticed
that Shadow just wasn’t as playful on Friday, and at adoption on
Saturday, her tummy looked so swollen she was immediately driven for
emergency treatment as her spay wound began oozing.
The slightest change in an animal’s behavior could be a warning
sign of an upcoming medical condition. Emergency surgery revealed an
infection that had spread to the abdominal wall. Infected tissue was
removed and Shadow was released with tubes to aid in drainage, and
her caregiver is providing critical supportive care.
If you would like to adopt Shadow, call (949) 759-3646, or you may

Puppy adoptions: ‘Tis the season to buy on impulse. Beware there
are no returns on puppies at pet stores. We are starting to get calls
from frustrated new puppy owners who did not remember how much work
they can be. Currently, we are referring their calls to dog trainers,
but after the holidays, frustrated dog owners will be calling to give
up their Christmas gifts.
The Community Animal Network is a community-supported animal
organization linking people and pets through community action. See
other animals available for adoption at https://www.animalnetwork.org,
or stop by Russo’s pet store at Fashion Island between noon and 4
p.m. on weekends. For more information, call (949) 759-3646, or write
