Sandpiper turns back Ganahl Lumber, 7-2

Sandpiper downed Ganahl Lumber and Team Viagra got past Used Cars to
advance to a winner’s bracket final in Tuesday League postseason
playoff action in the city of Laguna Beach Community Services Dept.
Summer 16 Slow Pitch Softball League.
All games were played at Riddle Field.
Tuesday League
Sandpiper 7, Ganahl Lumber 2
Mickey Allen had four RBIs and Jeff Heminghaus knocked in a pair
of runs as regular season champion Sandpiper knocked Ganahl Lubmer
into loser’s bracket play.
Allen hit a home run and single while Heminghaus homered twice and
singled.
Ryan Neptune added a double, single and walk in three plate
appearances.
Chris Howell hurled a six-hitter, two of the hits going to Greg
Wallace who homered and singled.
Robert Bonn added a double for Ganahl Lumber.
Team Viagra 6, Used Cars 5
Tom Pierce’s RBI single scored Gary Greene with the winning run in
the 10th inning to lift Team Viagra to its sixth straight win.
Earlier in the game, Greene had a two-run triple in the third
inning and a single in the second.
Teammate Glen Cecil scored two runs with a sixth inning home run.
Pat Toohey and Micah Stovall each hit a two-run home run and Aiden
Carrington hit a solo homer to lead Used Cars.
Used Cars 11, Ganahl Lumber 2
Pat Toohey knocked in five runs on the strength of two home runs
and a triple as Used Cars stayed alive in postseason play by
eliminating Ganahl Lumber.
Paul Endraske singled twice for the winners.
Greg Wallace’s two singles paced Ganahl Lumber.
Wednesday League
Sports World 10, Island Shade 6
Paul Corey had two home runs as Sports World overcame an early
two-run deficit in advancing to the winner’s bracket final.
Mitch Kruger, Evan Swedezsas, Bill Toon and Lance Stewart each had
a home run.
Tom Taylor gave Island Shade with a first inning grand slam and
leadoff hitter Andy Bunn had a pair of singles.
Courtesy Auto Body forfeits
Courtesy Auto Body dropped out of the Wednesday League postseason
playoffs by forfeiting two games, which allowed Arborists to advance
in winner’s bracket play and Island Shade to advance in loser’s
bracket play.
Thursday League
Arbitech 16, Compound Fractures 3
Manny Sanchez delivered a pair of two-run home runs as Arbitech
won its second straight game.
Todd Locurcio had a home run and double, Will Poovey tripled and
singled three times, Jeremy Whalen had two, two-run doubles and Ryan
Neptune doubled and singled twice for a potent Arbitech offense.
Russ Swarts recorded a three-run home run and Brandy Faber, Jimmy
Quintana and Ryan Harnan each singled twice for Compound Fractures.
Rotary 10, Team Hobie 7 Bob Jameson hit a pair of solo home runs as Rotary knocked Team
Hobie out of a first-place tie with Chico’s Bail Bonds.
Steve Glavin had three singles and David Zogg hit a solo homer for
the winners.
Brandon Jessie and Paul Corey carried the big bats for Team Hobie.
Jessie had a home run, double, single and walk in four trips to
the plate and Corey homered and singled three times.
Chico’s Bail Bonds 12, C-Dawgs 5
Mike McKenzie came up with two home runs and singled twice as
Chico’s Bail Bonds took over sole possession of first-place by ending
the C-Dawgs’ win streak at two.
Teo Moore delivered two homers and a single and Scott Borthwick
also homer twice for Chico’s.
John Mallot hit a three-run homer while five players -- Ted Boyko,
Joel Bushong, Tom Bemis, Aaron Brower and Frank Ranieri -- each
singled twice to lead the C-Dawgs.
