Time to round up the pets
It’s time again for the most intriguing pairing of any Laguna event.
The eighth annual Pet Parade and Chili Cook-off is set for Sept.
12.
Participants will bring all styles of pets and a variety of chili
to be judged by members of the community.
The event will start with the chili cook-off at noon and will end
at 3 p.m. after the pet parade. It will take place once again at
Tivoli Too, 777 Laguna Canyon Road. Admission is $3, children younger
than 12 are free.
Seeking youths eager to play basketball
National Junior Basketball in Laguna is looking for players.
Third- and fourth-grade boys who want to be team players, be
respectful to players and coaches and learn the fundamentals of
basketball are sought for the winter 2004 season.

Last chance for the Festival of Arts
Saturday is the last day for this year’s Festival of Arts.
The festival is open 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. at 650 Laguna Canyon

The Sawdust Art Festival is open through Sept. 5. It is at 935
Laguna Canyon Road. Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is $6.50,
$5.50 for seniors 65 and older, $2 for children 6 to 12 and free for
children 5 and younger.

Gathering to discuss Republican Convention
This month’s Open Gatherings topic is “What to Watch for in the
Republican Convention: Religion, Sex and Other Hot-Button Issues.â€
The discussion will be led by Tari Lennon, and will begin at 7:30
p.m. Friday at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 429 Cypress
Drive.
The gatherings are open to people of all faiths to explore a
variety of topics.
Admission is free; donations are welcome. Free child care is
provided for children age 4 and older. Dessert and coffee are served
