COSTA MESA
Fair-weather friend for former resident
It was a day at the fair that could’ve easily been ruined for
Daniel Aicklen. After a full afternoon of enjoying the rides, foods
and sights with his wife and grandchildren, the Surfside resident,
who moved from the Newport-Mesa area three years ago, found out he
lost his wallet. In it: his driver’s license, $300 in cash and credit
cards.
But thanks to Kevin Prendergast, who found it sitting on a bench
on his way to work at a Sugar Shack, Aicklen saw his wallet again. He
offered Prendergast money as reward, but he politely declined to
accept it.
Aicklen said it made his day to meet someone with such integrity
and honor.
