ORANGE COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY
A volunteer group serving the communities of Costa Mesa, Newport
Beach and Huntington Beach needs animal-loving volunteers for
two-hour shifts on weekdays to walk dogs and help socialize them to

PROJECT CUDDLE
Project Cuddle is a Costa Mesa-based nonprofit organization that
meets the needs of girls and women facing unplanned pregnancies. In
addition to office help and 12-hour hotline shifts once a month,
volunteers are needed for an auxiliary group and fundraising
committees and to help distribute stickers to stop babies from being
abandoned in trash bins. Service groups of all kinds -- mom’s groups,
churches, students, men and women’s clubs, and company-sponsored
sport’s teams -- are wanted for creative fundraising projects. The
organization also needs donated gift items for mothers and babies.

PROJECT TOGETHER
Project Together seeks adult volunteers to establish a trusting,
one-to-one relationship with children stressed from family problems
and abuse. This component of the Orange County Health Care Agency’s
Children’s Mental Health Services offers training and supervision for
the program. Many of the children are economically deprived, victims

READ/ORANGE COUNTY
Volunteer literacy tutors are needed to help create a more
literate community with no-cost tutoring for adults in reading and
writing, one-on-one or in small groups. The adult literacy program
serves the Orange County Public Library system. Lessons are

The mentor reading program seeks volunteers to read to students in
kindergarten through the third grade. Costa Mesa schools need help
for students in reading, writing and English. Mentor sessions may be

SENIOR MEALS AND SERVICES INC.
Volunteers are needed to deliver meals to homebound senior
citizens in Costa Mesa who are not able to prepare their own meals
and do not have anyone to prepare meals for them. Meals are delivered
between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Volunteers are asked
to donate at least one hour per week for six months. Substitute
drivers are also needed to fill in for regular drivers. Information:

SERVING PEOPLE IN NEED
Serving People in Need, also known as SPIN, is looking for
volunteers to help prepare meals for the homeless, assemble hygiene
kits, distribute meals and pick up food for preparation. SPIN
provides move-in costs for housing, case management and support
services to families leaving shelters. SPIN workers also serve as
family advisors or mentors and conducts workshops on budgeting and

SHARE OUR SELVES CLINIC
The clinic, which provides emergency services to the needy in
Orange County, is looking for volunteers to deliver and pick up food
from local restaurants and grocery stores, help with medical and
dental staff, data entry, assist with food sorting and distribution,

Volunteer tutors are needed to meet a greater demand for literacy
and English as a second language classes. Students are taught English
reading, writing and speaking skills at their own level in small
