Mayne traded to Dodgers

Brent Mayne, a former Costa Mesa High and Orange Coast College
baseball standout, is back in Southern California after the Arizona
Diamondbacks traded the 15-year major league catcher to the Los
Angeles Dodgers Saturday.
Mayne, 36, who backed up rookie Juan Brito for the D-backs, was
dealt to L.A. along with Gold Glove outfielder Steve Finley for three
minor leaguers.
Mayne, a Costa Mesa resident who has hit .255, with six doubles, a
triple and 10 RBIs in 36 games this year, should strengthen the
Dodgers, who gave up regular catcher Paul Lo Duca in a trade with the
Florida Marlins Friday.
The Dodgers will be Mayne’s seventh major league team, following
Kansas City, the New York Mets, Oakland, San Francisco, Colorado and
Arizona.
