Locals shine at track and field event
Laguna Beach residents Marlee Grosher and Christine Kinder each
captured first place in individual events at the Southern California
Municipal Athletic Federation Track and Field Championship at Gahr
High School in Cerritos.
Grosher grabbed first place in the Division 96 (division numbers
are based on the year the competitor was born) long jump with a leap
of 9-feet, 3.2-inches.
She also finished third in the 400-meter race with a time of
1:22.2, which is a city record time. That mark also bettered her
first-place finish at the recent county meet by 2.8 seconds.
Kinder, meanwhile, placed first in the Division 93 high jump with
a jump of 3-feet, 6 inches.
The two Laguna athletes are coached by Fred Pichay.
