Tartans roll lucky seven

The Tartans ran their win streak to seven games and in the process
widened their lead in the race for the Laguna Beach Junior Basketball
League’s regular season championship.
The Tartans went two games up in the league standings by defeating
the second-place Ducks, 66-54.
A win would have put the Ducks into a first-place tie with the
Tartans, who now hold a two-game lead with three regular season games
remaining on the schedule.
The Tartans clung to a 28-25 halftime lead but opened up a 53-40
lead heading into the final quarter.
Tyler Stowers’ 22 points led a trio of Tartans in double figures
as Scott De Young scored 14 points and Hunter Steffien scored 12.
The Ducks, who had four game win streak snapped, received a
game-high and personal high 31 points from Marcus Hairston.
Hairston hit five, three-point baskets in the game.
In other games:
Trojans 69, Artists 62
Nick Witte drilled a league season high of 41 points as the
Trojans won for the fourth time in five outings.
The teams were tied, 54-54, heading into the final quarter.
Dylan McDonald added 14 points and Bryce Healey contributed 12
more for the winners.
Kevin Buck, who hit a trio of three-point baskets, scored 21
points and Clay Knapp and Parker King each scored 15 to lead the
Artists in scoring.
Kings 55, White Uniforms 53
The Kings rallied from six points down in the final quarter to
defeat the White Uniforms.
Jack Monroe led the Kings in scoring for the second consecutive
game with 23 points.
Teammate Jason House added 12 points.
Nuggets 43, Lakers 27
League scoring leader Daniel Morrison hit for 24 points to pace
the Nuggets.
Armand Begay’s 21 points paved the way for the Lakers.

Trojans, 4-3; 5T. Artists, Kings, 3-4; 7. White Uniforms, 2-5; 8.
Lakers, 0-7.
