Vivian Parsons Hull

Former Laguna Beach resident Vivian Parsons Hull died April 30

after a long illness.

Ms. Hill grew up in Oklahoma and graduated in 1934 with a degree

in English from the University of Oklahoma, where she was president

of her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, and Band Queen.

She taught school for several years in Omaha, Neb.

In 1952 she and her family moved to Laguna Beach, where she was

active in civic and social activities, and her husband, Jack Parsons,

had a medical practice.

Ms. Hull was president of PTA and Ebell Club, founded the Newport

Beach chapter of the National Charity League and was a member of the

Taxpayers Assn. In 1954 she organized a petition to prohibit oil

wells off the shores of Laguna Beach. That same year she was selected

Mrs. Laguna Beach in the Mrs. America contest.

Her husband died in 1964.

Vivian traveled the world with her second husband, Melvin Hull,

visiting Africa, Europe, South America, Alaska, Hawaii and Canada.

Ms. Hull is survived by her brother, Charles Knox, Jr. of Dallas,

Texas; five children: Ginger Parsons Scribner, of Laguna Woods; Con

Parsons, of Sacramento; Polly Parsons Mastin, of Laguna Woods; Vivi

Parsons Hodgden, of Enid, Okla.; and Debra Parsons Kuziara, of

Sebastopol, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Todd Memorial Chapel in

Claremont on Saturday.
