Corona del Mar crushing pitches

Corona del Mar High put on an offensive show in defeating University,
17-8, in a Pacific Coast League baseball game Friday.
The Sea Kings had back-to-back home runs in the first inning and
two more dingers in the second while opening up an 11-0 lead in the first two innings.
Nik Palchikoff hit a home run in the second that cleared the
right-field fence at University and broke an apartment-building
window in the distance.
“I don’t know how far that is out there, but that was one heck of
a hit,” Coach John Emme said. “But from top to bottom, we were
hitting well today.”
Palchikoff finished the day with four RBIs to led CdM, but he was
not alone in driving in runs. Wess Presson, Barrett Sprowl, Jake
Lemmerman and Tyler Lance all collected two RBIs.
The Sea Kings improved to 14-5 overall and 9-0 in the PCL.

Estancia loses spark
* Estancia High Coach Jon Green said the Eagles were stripped of
their momentum because of questionable officiating and lost, 7-4, to
Golden West League visitor Ocean View Friday.
The Eagles (3-14, 0-7 in league) scored two runs in the third
inning, but the Seahawks answered with four runs in the fourth.
However, the four runs came unearned. Ocean View (5-2 in league) had
runners on second and third with two outs and the home-plate umpire
called a balk on the Estancia pitcher because of a 20-second delay,
Green said.
The balk brought in a run and the Eagles’ pitcher walked the
batter to put runners at the corners. A hit and two Estancia errors
followed and Ocean View had a 4-2 lead.
Estancia senior Eric Sheafer collected two hits, while senior Jose
Jauregui scored two runs. Senior catcher Cullen Crom, the Eagles’ No.
3 hitter, dislocated his shoulder in the bottom of the third inning.
