3 assists this past season. He was a first-team All-Bay Valley West
Division selection and he received honorable mention for all-state
honors as the Vikings finished 24-4, 13-1 in conference play.
Armstrong is a graduate of Jesse Bethel High in Vallejo, Calif.,
and has two years of eligibility remaining. He is the younger brother
of former Pepperdine standout Brandon Armstrong, who is in his third
season with the New Jersey Nets.

“Shamar will complement our returning backcourt players with his
versatility as a combination guard,” UCI Coach Pat Douglass said. “He
has strong abilities offensively and defensively, and he is
intelligent, very athletic and is a fundamentally-sound player.”
Douglass said Bruckner should make an immediate impact, with the

“Andrew is a very physical and mature player who posted impressive
numbers as a freshman on the community-college level and we look

level,” Douglass said.
