Don’t lose on ‘Jeopardy!’

We’ll take random trivia for $600, Alex.
The answer is, “Wil Curiel.”
Who is the kid who will represent Costa Mesa on “Jeopardy!”?
Yes, Wil Curiel will be gracing the TV screens of America in early
May as one of the lucky few -- very few -- who earned a spot on the
popular game show’s Kids Week. The 12-year-old passed through a
grueling application and test to make it to the taping.
Now, he’s sworn to secrecy, so we don’t know just how well he did,
but we’re encouraged that he credits watching “The Simpsons” for a
good chunk of his knowledge. All the parodies on the long-running
cartoon apparently gave him a leg up against the competition. Plus,
he practiced pushing the buzzer rather than cramming information,
which strikes us as a seriously self-evident strategy.
Now, if it’s a can’t-lose one, well, we’ll all find that out the
week of May 3.
Let’s hope we have happy news to report.
