Stokke shines for Newport

Freshman Allison Stokke broke her own school record in the pole vault
while senior Joel Walker won two events, but the visiting Newport
Harbor High boys and girls track and field teams each suffered losses
to Aliso Niguel in a Sea View League dual meet Thursday.
Stokke cleared 11 feet to better her prior school record of 10
feet set against Foothill earlier this season while Walker doubled in
the 400 meters (52.0) and long jump (18-3).
The Aliso girls claimed a 79-57 victory while the boys tallied a
75-61 triumph.
Lauren Paul set a personal record in the 3,200 (11:42.14) as did Ciara Lawrence in the shot put (31- 1/2) for the girls.
On the boys side, Newport’s Bo Taylor set a personal best in the
discus (139- 1/2) as did teammate Trevor Theriot in the shot put
(49-3).
Newport’s Megan Randall (2:27.1 in the 800) and Jackie Belida
(4-10 in the high jump) each won events on the girls side while Keith
Eldridge (11.22 in the 100), Mike Donald (2:10.54 in the 800) and
Nick St. Andre (4:45.46 in the 1,600) all won on the boys side.
Randall, Lauren Cohen, who set a personal best with a 49.80 to
place second in the 300 hurdles, Danica Kalmbach and Kiley Hall
claimed the 1,600 relay in 4:20.3.
Both Newport squads fell to 2-1 in league while each Aliso team
improved to 3-0.
