ON THE AGENDA
Here are some of the issues the commission will consider.
LAW FOR CAR SALES LOTS
The commission will consider an ordinance establishing special
zoning regulations for car sales lots. The proposed ordinance
involves changes to requirements for landscaped areas next to outdoor
vehicle display areas and an allowance for businesses to install
certain types of banners without having to get approval of a planned
signage program.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Planning staff members believe these new regulations take into
account the unique operating qualities of the car sales businesses
while maintaining the city’s intent to improve and enhance
streetscapes with landscaping and signage control.
PLANNING APPLICATION
The commission will consider an application from Farhad Khosravi,
who owns the property at 258 Santa Isabel Ave. Khosravi wants to
revise his plans for the project, which has already been approved.
The original project called for demolishing five one-story residences
and building four two-story, single-family houses.
Khosravi wants to change the plans by increasing the second-floor
area for two of the units.
WHAT TO EXPECT
There shouldn’t be any obstacles, as planning staff members feel
the revisions will be “compatible and harmonious” with the
neighborhood.
BANNERS ON ATHLETIC FIELDS
The commission will consider changing the city code to allow
banners to be displayed on athletic fields so community
organizations, like AYSO, can sponsor and support youth sports. The
change being proposed would put athletic fields under the current
sign-banner regulations. Athletic groups would be required to submit
a request and list the locations, dates of installation and removal
and the size of the banners to the planning department. Planning
staff members would review the requests and decide if they comply
with the rules.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Planning staff members recommend changing the code to allow the
banners to be displayed because banners play an important role in
advertising and fundraising for youth sports teams.
