Mesa’s Romo resigns
* WRESTLING: Lee Romo has resigned as wrestling coach for Costa
Mesa High, mainly because of the lack of participation in the
program, boys athletic director Dave Perkins said.
Doug Amburgey, a former Mustang, will take over as Mesa’s head
coach.
There are seven boys in the entire program, Perkins said. The
Mustangs started the season with eight, but senior Silvio Estrada
transferred to Westminster Jan. 2, Perkins said. Estrada finished
second in the 130-pound division in the Golden West League last year,
when the Mustangs made the CIF Southern Section team playoffs.
