A night worth going out for
We have another great excuse to get out on the town.
We already had Hospitality Night and First Thursday Art Walk. Now
we get Third Thursday Local’s Night.
Since June, Downtown shops and restaurants have been offering
specials on the third Thursday of the month to lure locals from their
cozy living rooms.
The evening begins around 5 p.m. and includes plenty of shopping
opportunities.
For the holidays, the nights have been even better. Santa has been
out from 6 to 9 p.m. to greet the kids on locals night. By the way
he’s also available at his home at Forest Avenue and Glenneyre Street
from 1 to 4 p.m. until Dec. 23.
Local’s Night is one of those opportunities for businesses and
residents to get together and display an obvious appreciation for
each other. This time of year is made even more pleasant with the
decor all are donning. All we need is a bit of snow on the ground and
we’d be in “It’s a Wonderful Life,” though we could hope friends will
still know our names.
Now, this isn’t the first time this has been tried (back then it
was called Good Night Laguna and they closed off the street) and it’s
tough for businesses to stay open late if the crowds don’t warrant
it. So let’s trust this time Lagunans will take advantage of the
specials and what the local shops have to offer.
