Man allegedly has meth lab in garage

Huntington Beach narcotics detectives arrested five adults after

finding an operating methamphetamine lab in the 6500 block of Brad

Drive on Oct. 15.

Jason West, 23, of Huntington Beach, was arrested on suspicion of

manufacturing drugs for sale after police received several complaints

from neighbors about drug activity at the home. The lab was found in

the garage.

Detectives from the Garden Grove and Westminster police

departments assisted with the arrests.

The Huntington Beach Lab Response Team and Fire Hazardous

Materials Unit responded to dismantle the lab.

Pit bull attacks teenage girl

A 17-year-old Huntington Beach resident had a large portion of her

scalp torn from her head by a pit bull she was reportedly playing

with at a friend’s apartment early Sunday.

Police responded to a call of a dog attack at 10:19 a.m. in the

16700 block of Blanton Street and found the victim being tended to by

a neighbor.

“Basically, the dog bite completely removed the scalp from the top

of her head,” Huntington Beach Lt. J.B. Hume said.

The dog’s owner, 32-year-old Randy Cuevas, had his pet in a spare

bedroom when police arrived. The victim was taken to Huntington Beach

Hospital after receiving treatment from paramedics.

Animal control officers picked up the dog, Kaika, which is between

18 months and 3 years old, Hume said.

While officers were in the apartment, they found several pieces of

drug paraphernalia and arrested Cuevas on suspicion of violating

several drug charges, Hume said.
