Simon and Jingo are 12-year-old Tonkinese cats. The breed is highly
desired and talkative, which is indicative of Siamese lineage.
Many people are shocked by the fact that people would give up
senior animals. Senior pets needing homes face a disturbing fate when
the public is misinformed as to why animals of this age need to be
relocated.
Lifestyle changes, or death of the pet’s parent, are common
reasons senior animals need to find new homes. The facts are that
responsible pet owners ask for help to benefit the animal. Asking for
help is the right thing to do. Senior pets turned over to an animal
shelter often are greeted with a “home in heaven” as time limits and
overcrowding force death, or people simply choose to order their
veterinarian to euthanize a healthy pet. (As was the case of our
beautiful 9-year-old long hair gray cat named Sylvia, who is still
available for adoption)
Jingo and Simon’s story is not uncommon. Their family has had them
all of their lives, but their lifestyle has changed due to a baby.
Toddlers are extremely hard on family pets. Dogs may bite and cats
may scratch as their fur or tail is pulled. Not only is the safety of
the children important, but the happiness of the animals, as well.
Most people are unaware that cats live to be 16 to 24 years old.
As a pro-quality life organization, Community Animal Network does
its best to encourage “senior” pet adoptions as the animals are well
behaved and calm.
There continues to be steady stream of hungry bottle feeding
kittens being rescued. We are in need of funds for kitten formula.
Your donations will help make a family very happy by helping us
continue to rescue and feed kittens that will be ready at Christmas.
