The Huntington Harbour
Republican Women Federated will host an evening with nationally
syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Meadowlark
Golf Club, 16782 Graham St. He will speak on “The State of Our State:
Where Do We Go From Here?” He will also sign his new book, “In, But
Not Of: A Guide to Christian Ambition.” Tickets are $30 and includes

SATURDAY
The Department of Fish and Game will offer a free fishing day on
Huntington’s beaches. All fishing regulations, such as bag and size
limits, gear restrictions, fishing hours and stream closures remain
in effect. Fishing from the Huntington Beach pier is free every day
of the year, but fishing from the beach is only free on this day.

SUNDAY
Golden West College Swap Meet will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays. Vendors sell new and used Items, fresh

Seniors’ Outreach in conjunction with Huntington Beach Adult
Education will offer a unique introductory six-week training class,
Connecting with Seniors, to prepare those interested in working with
seniors. The six-week training will be held Tuesday mornings through
Oct. 14 at the seniors’ outreach conference room, 1718 Orange Ave.

The Libertarian Party of
Orange County will host a free speaking engagement featuring James
Gray, an author, Superior Court judge and Libertarian Senate
candidate for the 2004 election. Gray is a vocal opponent of the U.S.
war on drugs and wrote the book, “Why Our Drug Laws Have Failed and
What We Can Do About It: A Judicial Indictment of the War on Drugs.”
The event will be held at 7 p.m. at My Place Sports Bar and Grill at

The Friends of the Shipley
Nature Center will host a California Native Plant Sale from 9 a.m.

Coordinating Council will hold its monthly meeting at noon at the
Murdy Park Community Center, between Warner and Heil avenues off
