Mesa Verde Partners takes showdown

Defending champion Mesa Verde Partners won its second consecutive
Wednesday League regular season championship by downing rival Sports
World, 11-8, in a Men’s Summer 16” Slow Pitch Softball showdown at
Riddle Field.
With the win, Mesa Verde Partners won the regular season crown
with a 7-2 mark.
Sports World was a game back in the league standings at 6-3.
Sports World’s 4-0 first inning lead didn’t hold up long, as Mesa
Verde erupted for nine, second inning runs. The outburst included
home runs by Steve Bryant and Steve McKinley.
Sports World had taken its 4-0 lead behind a three-run home run by
Lance Stewart and back-to-back singles by Paul Corey and Scott
Bakkum.

John Verdugo Jr.’s third inning three-RBI home run helped Courtesy
Auto Body end its regular season on a winning note.
Bede Arabe and Chuck Emanuelle each singled twice in the win.
Marco Johnson and Arlin Reid each hit solo home runs and Dave
Brobeck singled twice for Sammy’s Burgers.
Final regular season standings: 1. Mesa Verde Partners, 7-2; 2.
Sports World, 6-3; 3. Courtesy Auto Body, 3-6; 4. Sammy’s Burgers,
2-7.
