Police investigate missing teenager

Several Laguna Beach officers spent Thursday investigating a

mother’s claim that her 15-year-old daughter was missing and she

feared had met up with someone she’d met on the Internet.

Police confiscated the 15-year-old’s home computer and found

communications with a 20-year-old man, according to the computer’s

information. Police contacted the girl by Instant Messenger, and she

called investigators back saying she was fine and asked them to leave

her alone, then hung up, Sgt. Darin Lenyi said.

Lenyi said there were no signs of abduction and that police didn’t

consider the girl to be in immediate danger.

Police will continue investigating the Internet relationship and

looking for the 15-year-old runaway.
