Sandpiper remains unbeaten

Sandpiper retained sole possession of first-place in the
Tuesday/Thursday League standings and its status as the league’s only
unbeaten team following a 6-4 victory over Ganahl Lumber in City of
Laguna Beach sponsored summer 16-inches slow pitch softball play.
Steve Lafferty and Ryan Neptune hit back-to-back home runs in the
first inning to propel Sandpiper (4-0) to a 3-0 lead.
Sandpiper tacked on two more runs in it first at-bat as Chris
Howell doubled and David Schmid and Bill Reimer each singled.
Dave Wallace and Greg Wallace produced home runs for Ganahl
Lumber, which fell to 1-4.
In other Tuesday/Thursday League games:
Team Viagra 7, Used Cars 4
Team Viagra, which had started the previous week with an 11-2
setback to Used Cars, turned the tables and handed their rival its
first loss.
Kirk Ziegler homered and added a pair of singles and Dave Brobeck
and John Verdugo Jr. each had a home run and single to lead Team
Viagra (2-2).
Mike McKenzie and Mitch Stovall each homered for Used Cars (3-1).
Used Cars 11, Team Viagra 2 Home runs were recorded by Mike Cooper, Adin Cunningham and John
Rainey and Pat Toohey hit three singles and Mel Harwell doubled and
singled to power Used Cars.
Mitch Stovall pitched a three-hitter for the victors.
Island Shade 12, Forty Majority 1
A potent offense was led by Andy Bunn’s three-run home run, Bruce
Aguinaldo’s two-run home run and Al Jones, Mike Sadler and Paul
Sahargun.
Island Shade, the defending league champion, improved to 3-1.
Rotary 5, Team Hobie 3
Mark Smith and Eric Schmidt each hit home runs and singled twice
to lead Rotary (2-1-1), which also tied Good, Bad and Ugly (0-2-1),
4-4.
Standings: 1. Sandpiper, 4-0; 2T. Island Shade and Used Cars, 3-1;
4. Rotary, 2-1-1; 5T. Team Hobie and Team Viagra, 2-2; 7. Ganahl
Lumber, 1-4; 8. Good, Bad and Ugly, 0-2-1; 9. Forty Majority, 0-4.
