Giants play big in Minor A action

The Giants clinched the Minor A Division championship at Ocean View
Little League this week by defeating the second-place Angels, 8-5.
The Giants scored their eight runs on 12 hits, led by Scot Bailey
who went three for three with a triple, double and four RBIs.
Lars Jensen went two for three with a triple and two RBIs and
Mitchell Grant and Trevor Geery each went two for three with an RBI.
Jensen and Kevin Stoops shared the mound for the Giants and
allowed four hits while striking out 11.
In other games:
Dodgers 9, Reds 2
Bryan Perez and Mark Johnston combined to hold the Reds to one hit
and struck out 10.
Montana Merhoff and Victor Herrera each had key RBI hits for the
Dodgers.
Giants 9, Mets 2
The Giants racked up 12 hits and nine walks to down the Mets.
Kevin Stoops went three for four with a double and four RBIs, Lars
Jensen went two for three with two RBIs and Scot Bailey went two for
two with an RBI.
Stoops pitched the first three innings for the Giants and allowed
just one hit with no runs and struck out seven.
Jensen finished the game and gave up two runs on four hits. He
struck out five.
Dodgers 6, Marlins 5
Tyler Sluman began the bottom of the sixth inning with a hit and
late stole home to lift the Dodgers, who assumed sole possession of
second-place in the standings.
Matt O’Connor, Quinn Herndon, Montana Merhoff and Mark Johnston
each had hits for the Dodgers.
In Minor B play:
White Sox 12, Diamondbacks 10
Jake Arledge, Brett Berns and Thomas Harer each had multiple hits
as the White Sox outlasted the D-backs.
Zach Canter, Matt Kelly and Joe Varney all doubled and Alec
Villalobos hit a key single early in the game.
Berns secured the victory by striking out the side in the sixth
inning.
