Costa Mesa High senior football standout Borotha Pov has chosen not
to play for the South in the Orange County All-Star football game,
scheduled July 11 at Orange Coast College.
Originally selected as a defensive lineman, Pov, a 5-foot-11,
315-pound noseguard, was the Golden West League Defensive Player of
the Year after helping the Mustangs win the league crown in their
inaugural Golden West campaign.
Pov has been replaced on the South roster by Raymond Tiallino, a
6-2, 285-pound defensive lineman from Tustin High.
Still representing Newport-Mesa on the South roster are Keola
Asuega from Costa Mesa, Dartangan Johnson from Newport Harbor and
Matt Cooper from Corona del Mar.
The South, coached by Los Amigos High head man Roger Takahashi, is
scheduled to begin practicing June 30 at Los Amigos.
