Baseball camps at Newport Harbor

Newport Harbor High baseball coach Joel Desguin and Orange Coast
College Coach John Altobelli will offer two summer baseball camps for
players ages 5 through 14, beginning June 23 at the Newport Harbor
varsity diamond.
The first five-day camp features instruction in throwing, catching
and hitting, as well as additional strategies of the game, from 9
a.m. to noon.
Registration before Saturday is $125 for members of the Newport
Harbor Baseball Association and $140 for non-members. The day of the
camp, fees are $150 for NHBA members and $165 for non-members.
The second five-day camp is scheduled July 28 through Aug. 1.
Campers will receive T-shirts and prizes, and snacks will be
served daily. Campers are asked to provide their own water.

Football coaches sought
* YOUTH FOOTBALL: Newport-Mesa Jr. All American Football
organizers are looking for volunteers with football coaching
experience to lead at all six age divisions of the full-contact
league. Defensive and offensive coordinators, along with head coaches
and assistants, are being sought.
Teams usually practice four days a week from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. in
August at Corona del Mar High and three days a week (Tuesday through
Thursday) at the same time at the Bonita Creek fields from September
through mid-November.
Players range in ages from 7-14 and compete under CIF Southern
Section rules.
