1Cultural experience. The cultural traditions of Japan, France and

Mexico will be showcased at a two-day International Festival at the

Newport Beach Central Library. The event is presented by the Newport

Beach Sister City Assn., supported in part by a grant from the

Newport Beach Arts Commission. The Newport Beach Central Library is

2Jazzy sounds. Walter Lakota and David Alcantar, the New York Jazz

Connection Duo, play at Mamma Gina at 251 E. Coast Highway in Newport

MONDAY

3Monday experience. The Helmut Stein Experience will play Monday

nights in June at Detroit Bar at 843 W. 19th St. in Costa Mesa. The

band combines deep soul, jazz, blues and pop sounds.

TUESDAY

4Classical guitar. Solo guitarist Ken Sanders will perform

classical flamenco tunes at 7:30 p.m. Sundays at Carmelo’s

WEDNESDAY

5Brahms. The Pacific Symphony Orchestra and conductor Carl St.

Clair welcome pianist Christopher O’ Riley, a Van Cliburn medalist,

for their season finale at 8 p.m. in Segerstrom Hall. The orchestra

will play Brahms’ Symphony No. 1 in C minor; the Prelude to Act III

of Wagner’s “Lohengrinâ€; and two pieces by Chopin. Tickets cost $19
