The Huntington Beach Water Polo Foundation’s girls’ Under-14 Division
team earned a second-place finish at the South County Tournament held
in San Diego.
Eighty-eight teams -- including 16 in the Under-14 Division --
competed in the three-day event held at multiple sites in San Diego
County, said Jay Krietz, president of the Huntington Beach Water Polo
Foundation.
The tournament was the first major competition for the U-14 squad.
“The girls and their parents have shown great dedication to the
program,” Krietz said. “They’ve made it out to practices and are
playing very well. They’ve shown great improvement over the last six
months.”
Next up for the U-14 team is a qualifying tournament for the Jr.
Olympics scheduled for later this month.
The Huntington Beach Water Polo Foundation’s U-14 girls’ team is
coached by Stalin Reyes and consists of players Emily Clopp, Nash
