LBHS DANCE COMPANY’S DANCE EXPO
The award winning Laguna Beach Dance Company presents DancExpo,
its spring dance concert at 7:30 p.m. May 9 and 10, featuring

‘THE ADVENTURES
OF TOM SAWYER’
The Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre is presenting “The Adventures
of Tom Sawyer,” a new musical adaptation of the classic tale of
boyhood adventures in the late 1800s by Mark Twain. It runs May 9
through May 18. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for children.

FAMILY SING ALONG
Every fourth Friday of the month from 6 to 9 p.m. No Square
Theatre will have a family sing along with the renowned Terry Alaric

A TASTE OF WINE

host “Kapow! Blast Into Art” where the children will participate in a

The California Choreographers Dance Festival will present a

‘WHITENESS’ AT LAM
The new exhibit “Whiteness, A Wayward Construction” at the Laguna
Art Museum is a group exhibition of 28 individual artists and
collaborative teams working in various media, who explore
representations of whiteness. The underlying assumption of the
exhibit is that everyone in the United States is constructed in the
political imagination as a racial subject. The exhibit is curated by

THE EARLY 1900s
“Greetings from Laguna Beach: Our Town in the Early 1900s” just
opened at the Laguna Art Museum and will feature paintings,
photographs and memorabilia that chronicle life in Laguna Beach circa
1900 to 1930. The exhibit includes works by William Wendt, Joseph
Kleitsch, Clarence Hinkle, Edgar Payne and Anna Hills. In 1910,
Laguna’s population was around 300 and many of its residents were
writers, artists and musicians -- much like today. Featuring many of
Laguna Beach’s landmarks, past and present, it’s a vivid history of

conjunction with the “Whiteness, A Wayward Construction” exhibit at

California,” Ken Gonzales-Day, a contributing essayist in the exhibit
catalogue, will present a slide lecture based on current research for
his book, “Imaging Race/Picturing Death: The History of Lynching in
California. He is an associate professor of art at Scripps College,
