Coast district group created
Five Newport-Mesa residents have been appointed to the Coast
Community College District’s Measure C Citizen’s Oversight Committee.
The group will ensure that the bond’s $370 million are spent as
the public voted in November and that the district complies with all
legal requirements.
Katrina Foley, Jim Garmon and Ron Linksy of Costa Mesa, John
Lindgren of Corona del Mar and Lisa Silbar of Newport Beach were
among the nine people appointed to the committee. They will first
meet at the end of the month.
The Measure C funds are expected to alleviate overcrowding through
expansion and upgrade aging facilities. One of the first projects
will be a new transportation center building at Orange Coast College.
