Retired Navy vice admiral to speak

Norbert R. Ryan, a retired vice admiral from the U.S. Navy, will

speak May 18 at the Sunday brunch of the Golden West chapter of the

Miliary Officers Assn. of America. Ryan is the group’s national

president.

The brunch will begin at 11:45 a.m. at the Costa Mesa Country

Club, at 1701 Golf Course Drive.

Among Ryan’s awards and decorations are the Navy Distinguished

Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of

Newport chamber names its awardees

Newport Beach Mayor Steve Bromberg will give a State of the City

address at the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce’s annual Meeting and

Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on May 14.

Kevin Priestey and Elaine Izzo will receive this year’s awards for

their volunteer work with the community.

The event will begin at 11:45 a.m. at the Radisson Hotel in
