Hlushchanka, Dittenbir are singled out

Two standouts in women’s sports have been chosen for Lion of the Week

at Vanguard University.

The most recent, Olga Hlushchanka, continues unbeaten in singles

in women’s singles, has rolled up an 18-0 record to help the Lions’

women’s tennis team move to No. 13 in NAIA rankings.

Only one player has taken her to three sets this year, and that

was Anna Sieczka of Point Loma Nazarene.

In doubles action, she had teamed up with Alena Votavova to rack

up a 14-3 record.

Hlushchanka is a sophomore transfer from North Greenfield College.

A week earlier, Robbin Dittenbir from the NAIA National Basketball

Championships’ Final Four, was tabbed for her performances, including

48 points, 37 rebounds and 18 assists in the four-game tournament

schedule.

A sophomore, she helped the Lions make it through the first two

rounds for the first time in five appearances, and then claimed a

one-point victory in the quarterfinal.
